Saut de page Problem No 2: Fig 2 Vertical cylindrical reservoir closed with hemispherical cover is filled with liquid. The diameter of the cover D, height of cylindrical part H. Pressure in the cylinder is equal to saturation pressure paut at the temperature t. Calculate: 1) Vertical, liquid pressure forces, try ing to raise the cover and borizontal force, acting on the side of the reservoir (by the section \( 1-1 \) ). 2) The same forces if the reservoir is filled with dry saturated vapor at the same temperature The last digit of stadents sede Liqued 5 Propylene \begin{tabular}{|l|l|} \hline \( \begin{array}{l}\text { First digit of } \\ \text { Code }\end{array} \) & 6 \\ \hline H, m & 2.8 \\ \hline D. m & 1.4 \\ \hline T, \( 4 \mathrm{C} \) & -3 \\ \hline \end{tabular}

A solid cylinder of mass $m$, length $L$, area of cross-section $a$, density $\rho_{k}$ is floating in a liquid of density $\rho_{1}$ in a beaker of base area $A$ filled upto hcight $H$ as shown in figurc. If $P_{1}$ is pressure of atmosphere, $h$ is height of cylinder dipped. Column-I Column-II (a) Pressure at $A$ ( at top of cylinder $) P_{A}$ is (p) Equal to $P_{\text {o }}$ (b) Pressure at $B\left(\right.$ at bottom of cylinder) $P_{\mathrm{B}}$ is (q) $P_{0}+\frac{m g}{a}$ (c) Pressure at $C$ ' (at base of breaker $) P_{c}$ is (r) $P_{n}+H \rho g+\frac{m g}{A}$ (d) Value of pressure $P_{\lambda}, P_{B}, P_{c}$ if beaker is in (s) $\Lambda$ tmospheric pressure $P_{0}$ state of frec fall

The cylindrical tank with hemispherical ends shown in Fig. P2. 46 contains a volatile liquid and its vapor. The liquid density is $800 \mathrm{kg} / \mathrm{m}^{3},$ and its vapor density is negligible. The pressure in the vapor is $120 \mathrm{kPa}$ (abs) and the atmospheric pressure is $101 \mathrm{kPa}$ (abs). Determine: (a) the gage pressure reading on the pressure gage, and (b) the height, $h,$ of the mercury, in the manometer.
A two-phase liquid-vapor mixture of $\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O}$ with an initial quality of $25 \%$ is contained in a piston-cylinder assembly as shown in Fig. P3.40. The mass of the piston is $40 \mathrm{~kg}$, and its diameter is $10 \mathrm{~cm}$. The atmospheric pressure of the surroundings is 1 bar. The initial and final positions of the piston are shown on the diagram. As the water is heated, the pressure inside the cylinder remains constant until the piston hits the stops. Heat transfer to the water continues until its pressure is 3 bar. Friction between the piston and the cylinder wall is negligible. Determine the total amount of heat transfer, in J. Let $g=9.81 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{s}^{2}$
