Hormones secrete FSH and LH. FSH stimulates the Sertoli cells to secrete Androgen-Binding Protein. LH stimulates the Leydig cells to secrete testosterone. Testosterone and Androgen-Binding Protein stimulate Sustentacular cells (Sertoli) to secrete inhibin, which inhibits FSH secretion and inhibits sperm production. Testosterone has an antagonistic effect that reduces GnRH. Spermatogenesis. A secondary spermatocyte is 2n. The transformation of spermatids into spermatozoa is called spermiogenesis. The acrosome contains degradative enzymes to penetrate the egg. The midpiece contains many mitochondria to help power the sperm.

00:01 To answer the question, what triggers sperm production, we will need to consider some things in the human body called the hypothalamus, gonadotropin, the pituitary gland, loutonizing hormone, and follicle -stimulating hormone.
00:15 In the center of the human brain is a structure called the hypothalamus.
00:18 Its main purpose is to regulate your body functions in a normal stable state known as homeostasis.
00:23 One of the ways it regulates your body is by releasing chemicals that give the body instructions.
00:28 These are known as hormones.
00:29 One hormone, called gonadotropin, abbreviated as gn -r -h, is important for reproduction and is responsible for stimulating the pituitary gland...
