Elementary Statistics a Step by Step Approach
7 months ago
Hi in this problem, we want to test the lower alternative hypothesis. Since you did not the property exact data, I will show you how to do it with a form of us. So let's say our significance level of 0.05, you should be given a sample mean a sample or population standard deviation would assume sample because usually, especially if you're an ap stars and it's always gonna be sample standard deviation and you will use the T distribution a sample size and you um since most of the case, you will not know this population standard deviation, you will only know the sample standard deviation. You have to use the T score too, find the p values, so the T score will be equal to the sample, mean minus the population mean, over the standard error, which is gonna be as over Squirtle. After you have 10 T score, you have to try t distribution. To wrap it up, let's say t scores right over here. Um since we have a two tail test, you're gonna have to reflect it over here too. And you want to find the total area over the two tails, find a bike, finding the area of one time and multiplied by two. To get the total area, the degree of freedom will be in -1. After you obtain a p value compared with the significance level alpha. And if p value is less than alpha, then we will reject no hypothesis. If p value is ready than alpha, then we will fail to reject the null hypothesis that mhm and that's going to be the solution, I hope that helps.

Explain why the null hypothesis $H_{0}: \mu_{1}=\mu_{2}$ is equivalent to the null hypothesis $H_{0}: \mu_{1}-\mu_{2}=0$.
