Here's an interesting (and hypothetical) situation. The average score for one group on an aptitude test is $89.5$ and the average score for the second group is 89.2. Both groups have sample sizes of about 1,500 and the differences between the means are significant, but the effect size is very small (let's say . 1). What do you make of the fact that there can be a statistically significant difference between the two groups without there being a meaningful effect size?
