Imagine that you are a youth worker (community based) who is working as part of a multidisciplinary team with the following clients:
ļ§ Neema, age 7, goes from being completely calm to blindly running, screaming, and hitting anyone in his path. Heās triggered by changes in his environment, even seemingly small and insignificant stressors.
ļ§ Rebecca, age 10, throws herself on the ground as soon as she enters the schoolyard. She clings to her mother, begging to be taken home.
ļ§ Emilio, age 12, loves wrapping plastic bags around his penis and masturbating during class. His behaviour was so disruptive that he needed to be placed in a special class away from other students.
ļ§ Nasim, age 9, poured gasoline on the family cat, and then tried to burn the house down.
ļ§ Pierre, age 15, was introduced by the teacher to the rest of the class. She jumped on the desk, pretending that she had a gun, screaming obscenities and threatening to kill everyone.
ļ§ Pierre, age 9, is preoccupied with arranging the books and materials at his work desk to the point that he cannot engage with class activities.
ļ§ Pari, age 18, is prone to intense emotional reactions. When stressed, she threatens suicide or cuts herself. She is sexually promiscuous and uses any street drug available. When asked about her cutting, she says, āI donāt know why I do it. It just feels good. It makes the pain go away.ā
