In lecture we discussed a specific study that used MRI, PET, & TMS technologies to study the question of why occipital lobe regions are associated with tactile object identification (identifying an object by touch alone, cannot see the object). State the 2 competing hypotheses tested in the research study discussed in lecture regarding the role of occipital lobe activation of visual cortex. Explain how each technology is used, and how each contributes to the results of the study. Explain the pattern of results and how it helps us choose which hypothesis is supported.
