In one particular deluxe hotel in Metro Manila, the management takes pride in the excellent service given by its staff to all its hotel guests. Approximately \( 10 \% \) of the inhouse guests are Filipino balikbayans. One day, a Filipino balikbayan checked in with two pieces of luggage a huge suitcase and a big balikbayan box. The guest was staying only overnight. The bellman brought the luggage to the designated guestroom. The following day, the guest checked out with the same number of luggage. The bellman called for a taxi cab to take the guest to his next destination. The housekeeping attendant entered the vacant guestroom later to clean it. The housekeeping attendant was surprised to note that the television unit in the living room was no longer in the armoire or TV cabinet. The housekeeping attendant also found plenty of huge rocks in the bathtub. This was reported right away to the security personnel. It was investigated also by the Human Resources Department. This was obviously a case of theft. However, the investigation report also indicated that the housekeeping staff, front desk clerk, and bellman were all irresponsible in allowing the guest to check out without clearing the guest room, i.e., to ensure that nothing is missing. The book value of the missing television set (P24,685) was charged to the negligent employees. Answer this in a 1 whole sheet of pad paper I. Title of the case: II. Facts of the case: III. Problem of the case IV. Objectives v. Recommendation

Title: Logistics Impacts and Organizational Changes for Expanding Direct-to-Consumer Service Topic: Eco Bottle The Company: Eco Bottle You have just been hired as the Director of Logistics for Eco Bottle (EB). In your new role, you will have responsibility for general logistical planning, including functions such as inbound and outbound freight and any logistics-related functions within EB. EB is a ten-year-old Canadian manufacturer of premium refillable water bottles. EB is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where their manufacturing facility, warehouse, and administrative offices are contained within a single building. EB employs seventy staff members, 35 of them dedicated to manufacturing, 15 to warehouse operations, and the remaining 25 in various administrative positions. EB has positioned their product in the 'premium' category and is enjoying year-over-year growth. Their primary product is a 750 ml refillable water bottle that is manufactured using two primary raw materials: stainless steel for the body of the bottle and high-density plastic for the removable lid. EB has spent considerable effort on research and development, and the bottle is considered to be industry-leading in its ability to maintain both hot and cold temperatures. 75% of EB's sales are done through an online distributor called Skyway, who maintains distribution centers in Calgary, AB, Mississauga, ON, and Montreal, QC. Skyway specializes in selling athletic and outdoor goods directly to Canadian consumers and uses small package providers and couriers to provide one or two-day delivery to most Canadian households. EB currently ships product over the road to Skyway's distribution centers, and if ordered in TL quantity, EB pays for the freight expense. When LTL quantities are ordered, EB charges the freight expense to Skyway. The remaining 25% of sales are done through a small group of boutique specialty stores across Canada that have requested the product specifically to stock. These sales are normally low volume and shipped via a small package or courier service to the boutique specialty store. Case Assignment #3 EB is aware that many of their boutique specialty stores would prefer to have EB directly ship their bottles to customers versus the boutique specialty store having to maintain inventory. Some boutique specialty stores have proposed an in-store display where customers could view the product, order it in-store, and then have it delivered directly to the home from EB's facility in Winnipeg. Currently, EB only ships individual bottles when customers have warranty issues and they are sending a replacement bottle. EB's experience with this has been poor as the carton is lightweight cardboard and was only designed for 'in-store' presentation. Many of the individual bottles shipped under warranty repair are damaged before they arrive at their customer. When the bottles ship outbound, they are packaged in a master carton that holds 30 bottles and then palletized. Under this system of using a master carton and palletization, the units rarely are damaged. You have been asked to prepare a preliminary report that would discuss the logistical impacts, including general cost assumptions, transit time, internal process, and administrative changes that would be required to support such an initiative. Specifically, you have been asked to: 1. Highlight the logistical impacts of expanding a direct-to-consumer service (i.e., cost, transit time, packaging). 2. Discuss the organizational impacts of a change in service (i.e., internal processes, administrative changes). Assignment: Your response should be approximately 1,500 words and contain a brief introduction, your analysis and recommendation, and finally a conclusion. You can use the template below to get started. Please submit your assignment in Word (.doc or .docx) format.

Wallier Specialty Items Inc. The sales had shown double profit at the company of Mark Nash, named by Wallier Specialty Items Inc. in Dawson Creek, BC in a year which was out of expectations. However, the company was unable to cope with the over-demanding workload and workers were not able to handle the burden of work within the given period. Then a meeting was arranged by Nash to solve the issues. During the meeting, some of the managers reported the following: First and foremost, it was observed that the company had shown a lack of pre-planning, which is why the company faced a mismatch between demand and supply. Moreover, customers were on a waiting list to get a quick reply to their queries. Secondly, absenteeism was increasing among the workers, and it was difficult for the company to fill that gap by hiring new employees instead of providing them with a reliable work area. HR conducted a staff satisfaction survey last month, which was completed by 99% of the staff. Several issues were identified by the staff: The current evening shift patterns (12 p.m.–5 a.m.) are not family-friendly. There is a high transportation cost, and some staff are worried about their personal safety when traveling at night. There are long working hours. Furthermore, employers were not concerned about the working conditions of laborers, so staff members have lost control over their work due to an aggressive environment. The supervisors of different departments were ignoring each other's poor strategy and leadership. Wallier Inc. rates of pay per hour for careers are lower than the rates offered by other competitors.

Identify the most probable "suspect" based on the limited information provided by the report and explain why you think this protist must have caused the victims to lose consciousness. Try to make a succinct profile of the "suspect," including justification of the answer in the symptoms portion. Make sure that the treatment is locally available in our country. Do not forget to include the reference/s used. Date Reported: December 23, 2016, 8:00 a.m. Reporting Officer's Narrative At 8:24 p.m. on December 22, 2016, a frantic emergency call was received by the duty officer because of the discovery of two unconscious bodies inside a residence in Cabucgayan, Biliran. The caller on the other line was identified as Ebony Boyda; she claimed to be a neighbor of the victims. Cabucgayan Police Station Unit 209 (Officer W. Prisno) was dispatched to the reported scene at 9:28 p.m. Unfortunately, the bodies were already brought to the nearest district hospital for medical intervention. R/O secured the scene first and requested backup to proceed to the hospital. R/O recorded the following environmental conditions at the reported scene: Weather: Exterior Ambient Temperature: 28°C, Relative Humidity: 83%. R/O Prisno explicitly made this verbal report in a nonverbatim summary: R/O arrived at the scene and was met by Ebony Boyda, who identified herself as the caller who reported. Boyda exited the area just as R/O entered the residence through the main door in the front of the house facing the sea. Upon clearing the supposed scene, R/O noted that no other person was within the vicinity. R/O observed that a table was set with dinner consisting of fresh oysters, pusô (hanging rice), isaw (barbecued chicken intestines), and a pitcher of clear drinking water. There were two unfinished plates as well, each with at least one piece of an empty oyster shell, isaw, and pusô. A broken glass of water was on the floor near the table. A few steps from the table, R/O noticed a bangâ (earthen jar) and went to check its contents. A strong smell of rotten egg emanated from the water inside the bangâ when it was opened. R/O immediately closed the container. R/O's attention got caught by a silver in the corner of the water basin. Upon inspection, R/O realized that they were empty blister packs of a generic Paracetamol. Officer S. Randa hurried to the hospital and arrived at around 10:16 p.m. and inquired with the medical staff if indeed two unconscious bodies were rushed on the same night. The medical staff confirmed the report and supplied information that the two individuals were identified as Rebreb and Princess Salazar, married with no children. And that the two were in stable condition already albeit the cause of their medical emergency still unknown. When R/I visually inspected the victims, both were still unconscious but seemed to be sleeping peacefully in their respective hospital beds. R/I left the hospital at around 1:59 a.m. and instructed the medical staff to give the station a call once either of the victims regains consciousness. The medical staff called the station at 6:02 a.m. to inform the R/O that their epidemiologist suspects that a parasitic protist may have caused the two victims to almost lose their lives. Four protists were identified to possibly have infected the couple: Plasmodium, Entamoeba, Giardia, or Pyrodinium bahamense.
