Use the terms to correctly complete the sentences regarding the "all-or-none" principle. The principle refers to the creation of a potential along a muscle cell membrane. It states that an action potential will not be created until a critical level, or threshold, is met. This level is the amount of depolarization that must occur along the plasma membrane prior to an action potential being created. Once this level is reached, changes in membrane permeability occur which lead to the creation of an action potential. The "all" part refers to the identical action potentials created throughout a cell's membrane, while the "none" indicates the non-generation of an action potential if the threshold is not met.
