Individual Assignment BUS-385 Step 1: Identify a broad problem area which might interest you and you want to understand the scenario/situation and want an answer to it. E.g. You see that more people are buying a particular brand of a product. Why is it that only this brand is selling more than the others? Step 2: Download a research paper related to the topic from Google Scholar and write a summary of the same (one paragraph) together with the surname(s) of the author(s) and the year of publication. Step3: From the research paper, identify at least three independent variables (factors) that might influence the dependent variable.

locate three different research studies in your area of interest that use linear regression. It's okay if the studies contain more than one predictor variable. Answer the following questions for each study: 4a. What is one independent variable? What is the dependent variable? 4b. If there is more than one independent variable, what argument does the researcher make that these variables are independent of each other? 4c. Which of the three studies seems to present the least convincing evidence that the dependent variable is predicted by the independent variable, and why?

Consider the scenario below. Identify the independent variable, the dependent variable, and write a hypothesis in the "If, then" format. Do not worry about whether or not the scenario presents a good experiment. Scenario: Hope and Elizabeth are trying to decide if they should buy a new skateboard or not. They want a skateboard that gives them the longest jump in the air off a ramp they've built. The new skateboard's designer claims to have an aerodynamic design that allows the longest airtime possible when used correctly. Hope and Elizabeth's old skateboards don't have this aerodynamic design. They wonder if this is true and decide that Hope will buy the new skateboard to try out, and Elizabeth will wait to see how it works before she buys one or not.
