It will be necessary to reduce the volume of the methanol solution your pill is dissolved in by volatilizing a portion of the methanol. Describe how you will do this. iv. Describe how you will bring your dissolved analgesic out of the methanol it is dissolved in

Why is the minimum amount of boiling 50/50 water-methanol mixture used to dissolve the crystals (in the synthesis of acetaminophen), instead of using an excess amount of it?
Madhur L.
After 60 minutes have elapsed, the chemist allows the reaction to cool to room temperature and adds aqueous sodium bicarbonate until the bubbling stops. The contents of the reaction vessel are then transferred to a separatory funnel, and dichloromethane (also known as methylene chloride) is used to extract the organic product. After shaking and venting the separatory funnel, the lower layer (approximately 5 mL in volume) is drained into an Erlenmeyer flask. To the Erlenmeyer flask, magnesium sulfate (drying agent) (MgSO4) is added. Upon swirling the flask, the chemist notices a white clump of MgSO4 surrounded by a large amount of loosely held white particles of MgSO4. The chemist filters the drying agent and then transfers the filtrate into a clean, pre-weighed Erlenmeyer flask. The Erlenmeyer flask is heated to 80°C (using a reliable thermometer) in a water bath for 45 minutes, at which point the chemist notices that a liquid is still present in the flask.
