HW #9 PROBLEMS
Material to cover: Ch.7B
1. Steam is condensed in a steam power plant at a pressure of 10 kPa and boiled at a pressure of 5 MPa. Assuming that the complete cycle is reversible, steam leaves the turbine as saturated vapor, the working fluid enters the pump as saturated liquid, and the heat losses from the pump and the turbine are negligible. Determine:
a. The turbine work per unit mass, in kJ/kg.
b. The pump work per unit mass, in kJ/kg.
c. The ratio of turbine to pump work.
