The below figure shows eleven neurons in a petri dish that comprise a circuit and the major neurotransmitter associated with each synapse is indicated. For the sake of this assignment, assume that the neurotransmitter listed is the only one that is release into the respective synapse. All synapses are excitatory (EPSP) and when the cholinergic neuron spikes, all others will also spike. The cholinergic neuron has an electrode inserted into one of its dendrites which is used to create an EPSP that has enough magnitude to exceed threshold for an action potential.
