Pitching. The earned run average (ERA) is a statistic that gives the average number of earned runs a pitcher allows. For a softball pitcher, this is based on a six-inning game. The formula for ERA is shown below. Simplify the complex fraction on the right side of the formula. $$ \mathrm{ERA}=\frac{\text { earned runs }}{\frac{\text { innings pitched }}{6}} $$
