2.1 THE ATOMIC MASS
1. List the atomic masses for the following nuclei (in u) extracted from the table provided: 40Ca, 41Ca, 42Ca, 41Sc, 42Ti.
2. Convert these values to MeV/c^2, showing all of your calculations.
2.2 MASS EXCESS AND BINDING ENERGIES
1. Determine the mass excess for each case above.
2. Calculate the nuclear binding energy for each case above, then extract the binding energy per nucleon (BE/A).
3. What do you notice about BE/A for the evaluated nuclei?
