Question

A boy and a girl are ice skating. Both are face to face. The girl has a mass of 15 kg and the boy a mass of 35 kg. The boy pushes the girl backwards and gives her a speed of 3.5 m/s. What is the boy's speed as a result of the push?

a 35-kg girl, standing at rest on a frictionless surface, gives a 50-kg boy, who is also standing at rest on the ice, a shove. After the shove, the boy is moving backward at 2.0 m/s. The girls speed is ?

Use the conservation of momentum to answer the following question. A 32-kg girl and a 36-kg boy face each other on friction-free roller blades. The girl pushes the boy, who moves away at a speed of 1.5 m/s. The girl's speed is ___ m/s.

Two ice skaters stand together. They push off and travel directly away from each other, the boy with a velocity of v = +0.35 m/s. If the boy weighs 745 N and the girl 477 N, what is the girl's velocity after they push off? (Consider the ice to be frictionless) _____ m/s

00:01 In this question we have given a 35 kilogram girl which is standing at rest on a frictionless surface gives a 50 kilogram boy who is also standing at a rest on the ice a shove after the show the boy is moving backward with a speed of 2 meter per second then we have to find the speed of the girl we have given that mass of the girl that is 35 kilograms and mass of the boy which is 50 kilogram initial speed of the girl is 0 meter per second and initial speed of the boy is also 0 meter per second after given show the speed of the boy is backward that is minus 2 meter per second and we have to find the speed of the girl so we can say according to conservation of momentum we can say the initial momentum of the system is equal to final momentum so the initial momentum of the boy plus initial momentum of the girl, that is the initial speed, is equal to final momentum of boy plus final momentum of girl.
01:30 So as initially boy and girl are rest, so initial momentum is zero and that is equal to 50 into minus 2 plus 35 into vg...
