Okay, how do you avoid and overcome procrastination? this isn't really an easy question to answer because it's different for every single person, but at the end of this, i'll tell you what i specifically do.
00:15
So as this article from princeton says, most people aren't lazy.
00:21
The real truth here is that a lot of people think they work best under pressure.
00:26
They give themselves short deadlines.
00:30
But also people are just so intensely tired that they just put off more work.
00:37
So laziness is not necessarily the issue here.
00:41
It's not.
00:43
Okay.
00:44
So the first step, the first step to overcome procrastination is to have an understanding of the reasons why you procrastinate.
00:54
So why do you? is it because you're too tired? because you've done too much work and you haven't managed your time properly.
01:02
So you have to do all this work in a short amount of time.
01:06
Is that why? is it because you're awful at time management, which is the same as the other? or you're so stressed that you just can't make yourself do it until that deadline is staring you in the face? is that why? the first step is to figure out why.
01:23
The second step is to figure out time management techniques.
01:27
And this is the most valuable thing you can do.
01:30
Would i highly recommend.
01:33
So, make a, don't make a huge list of things to do or schedule every minute of your day.
01:39
That's very stressful.
01:41
Set reasonable goals.
01:43
You might get a planner from your school.
01:45
I would highly, highly, highly recommend that.
01:49
Use that to break big tasks down.
01:51
So what i do is when i have a big deadline coming up, i give myself many deadlines.
01:57
I'm like, okay, first draft, do.
01:59
I'll do that by friday.
02:02
Then i'm going to edit that, get into a middle draft by like sunday.
02:07
You're going to have a friend review it, complete my final draft a couple of days before, and then it'll be ready, and then i can just give it a final read -through and submit it on the day of.
02:16
So reasonable goals and breaking big tasks down.
02:20
Mini deadlines are really important.
02:23
And stay motivated for productive reasonings.
02:27
Don't stuff.
02:28
Don't do stuff out of fear of failing.
02:30
That's not a powerful motivator...
