A power utility company is planning for an expansion plan for its existing transmission system to cater for load demand of a new industrial area development. It is expected that the new industrial area will require a power demand of 125MW and 25MVar at a supply voltage of 275kV. The plan is to connect the existing power grid to the load via a single transmission line and a new substation located near the load. The proposed transmission line has a fixed resistance of 0.015 p.u. and reactance of 0.112 p.u. The grid requirement is: i. The voltage at the load should be between ±5% of the supply rated voltage of the existing grid system. ii. The real power loss in the transmission line should be less than 10% of the power supplied by the grid. a) You, as a planning engineer in the company, are requested to prepare an analysis to predict the voltage at the new industrial substation. You need to choose a method which will converge very quickly and require the least number of iterations. Perform at least two (2) iterations. You can use any reasonable assumption to start the iteration. Use 100MVA as base power and 275kV as base voltage. Finally, based on your analysis result of using two (2) iterations, can the voltage requirement can be met? Briefly justify your answer. b) Let's say that after performing a two (2) more additional iterations, you calculated that the voltage at the new substation's bus converges at 0.9397 p.u at an angle of -0.1455 radians. Using this as your final result, you are requested to find out whether the real power loss requirement can be achieved or not. Justify your answer with calculations. Also, calculate the reactive power loss in the transmission line. Note : The results in both analysis should be at least four (4) decimal places. Assume that the existing power grid as the slack bus.
