Pretend you are in charge of a new social media platform. (How do you feel? Excited? Scared?) Your social media platform can be similar to an existing one, or it can be something new. You will be submitting a piece of writing that describes certain aspects of this new platform.
Your submission must include the following:
Purpose - What is the purpose of your platform? Is it purely social? Professional? Does it have a theme (writing, music, science, ...)? Who is the target audience? Write 3 - 4 sentences summarizing who your social media platform is for and what they can do on it.
[Optional] Name - If you'd like, come up with a catchy name for your platform!
Rules for Users - This is the biggest part of your submission. What rules must the users of your platform follow? In your rules section, you must address the following:
Cyberbullying - What constitutes cyberbullying (or otherwise inappropriate behavior) on your platform?
Intellectual Property - In what way will users be required to respect the intellectual property rights of others?
Consequences - What consequences will be enforced if a user violates your rules? Will this depend on the severity or frequency of violation?
Enforcement - How do you plan to enforce your rules?
Rules for Ads - Assume your social media platform will run ads. What kinds of content will be permitted in ads? What kinds of content will not be permitted?
