Problem 2: Ray tracing for convex mirrors
A 5 cm high object is located 30 cm from convex mirror with focal length of -20 cm. The image below is to scale (but is not necessarily at a scale of 1:1).
Draw ray diagram to find the image, including the height and orientation of the image. You only need to draw the special rays, but you can draw more if you like. Use straightedge and be as accurate as possible. Use ruler to measure the image location. Use the appropriate sign to indicate whether it is a real or virtual image. Make sure that you scale your measured value appropriately.
Use the mirror equation to compute the image distance, and then compute the percent error of your measurement.
Use ruler to measure the image height, and then use it to find the linear magnification. Make sure that you scale your measured value appropriately.
Use the formula for the linear magnification with the image distance you calculated in part 1 to calculate the linear magnification, and then compute the percent error of your measurement.
