Carbon dioxide ($$CO_2$$) enters a steady state compressor at 1 bar and 300 K and is compressed adiabatically to 10 bar, 520 K. $$CO_2$$ is modeled as an ideal non-calorically perfect gas*, and kinetic and potential energy effects are negligible. Determine:
a. the work input $$\dot{W}$$, in kJ per kg of $$CO_2$$ flowing.
b. the rate of entropy production $$\dot{\sigma}$$, in kJ/K per kg of $$CO_2$$ flowing.
c. the isentropic compressor efficiency $$\eta_c$$.
d. Sketch (by hand) the compressor process on a T-s diagram.
* Use Table A-20 to evaluate the thermodynamic properties of $$CO_2$$.
