Student's performance on a difficult English examination is given by 9(t,x) = Stx + 0.302, where Stx is the grade the student can expect to get. t is the number of hours of study for the examination, and x is the student's grade-point average. Calculate 9(10, 3) = 9x(10, 9) + (10, 9) + (10, 9).
Interpret the results:
You have studied for 10 hours and have a GPA of 3. Your score on the examination is increasing by 9 points for each additional hour of study and by 10 points for each additional point of GPA.
(b) What does the ratio 9(10, 9) + (10, 9) tell about the relative merits of study and grade-point average?
Level of study with GPA of decimal places: GPA (as far as your test score is concerned), an additional hour of study is equivalent to an increase of three points.
