There are many factors that can impact school sports within the u .s., but two of the most significant factors are the ability of schools to offer high -quality programs and the level of participation in these programs is, one, funding.
00:21
The funding for school sports programs is a major factor that affects the quality and availability of sports programs for students.
01:19
And this just if we stop and think about this this makes a lot of sense because if a school has a really big budget for sports they are able to hire better coaches um that have more expertise versus maybe just having a teacher take on a coaching position that school with a higher budget might be able to hire a specific coach that has a lot of experience in just that sport they're able to afford the gear they're able to afford maybe extra practices and sessions and training sessions with whether it be with specialized people with knowledge in that area or renting the facilities because not every school has the facilities for every single sport not every school has a swimming pool to offer swim team they might have to use a community pool that they have to rent or even a private pool at a gym or some sort of facility that they have to pay a fee to rent that space.
02:26
Hockey teams, most high schools don't have their own hockey facility.
02:30
They maybe rent it from the community or share it with other schools, but there's fees involved in having that ice time, that ring time.
02:42
Hockey, for example, is an expensive sport.
02:44
So if if your school budget is not big, you're not offering hockey as a sport because you can't afford to.
02:50
So funding is a significant factor...
