Chapter 11

Quadratic Functions and Equations

Section 2

The Quadratic Formula

so the first thing I want to do is put this equation into standard form, so we're going to have three p squared and we're going to subtract 18 p and add six t equals zero. Then we find the variables A which is equal to three b, which is equal to negative 18 and see which is equal to six and plugged that into the quadratic formula and so that we get X is equal to negative negative 18 which is positive. 18 plus or minus. The square root of negative 18 squared minus four times three times six all over two A, which is two times three. Then we get X is equal to 18 plus or minus. The square root of 324 minus 72 all over six X is equal to 18 pleasure, minus the square root of 252 all over six X is equal to 18 plus or minus. Now what we want to do here is simplify this into the square root of 36 times the square root of seven over six. Since we know that the square of 36 is six, we get X is equal to 18 plus or minus six times the square root of 7/6, and if we factor out, six here will get X is equal to three plus or minus the square root of seven.

In mathematics, a continuous function is a function for which sufficiently small changes in the input result in arbitrarily small changes in the output. Otherwise, a function is said to be a discontinuous function.
