For operating point calculations, assume base currents are negligible for transistors. Assume that the value of R will be such that negligible current will flow through it for operating point calculations. Further assume that the bypass capacitor is large for operating point calculations and therefore acts as a short in AC small signal analysis. The small signal input resistance of the transistor from the base, r, is given by r = 26/Ic, where Ic is in mA and 26 is in mV. In small signal analysis, neglect the transistor's internal capacitances.
