We're going to solve chapter 11 problem 2 where we are sketching the slope field for d, y, d, d, x, where that is equal to x divided by y at the figure's points.
00:11
Let me pull in the picture from the book.
00:19
So what we can tell from this picture is we have values here where x is equal to 1, values down here at y is equal to negative 1, y equal to 1, and x equal to negative 1.
00:33
So to solve this, the first thing you do is you write your equation, d, y, the x, x, is equal to x divided by y and then you essentially just come up with values for each position so if we are going to look at this point right here we're going to see that x is equal to 1 and y is equal to 1 and 1 divided by 1 is 1 so in order to draw your slope field you put a straight line right there at approximately x equal to 1 here in this position we're going to have y equal to 0 and x equal to 1, which is an infinite slope, which means that the line is just going to be vertical at that position.
01:22
And that is true for both of these two.
01:26
For these top and bottom nodes on the y -axis, you have x -equal to 0, which means that the slope is equal to 0...
