00:01 All right, so to solve this linear equation, first thing we need to do is get rid of brackets.
00:05 I have brackets on both sides, so i'm going to do that all in one step here.
00:11 So i'm multiplying in the number outside into the inside, and it has to go to everything.
00:17 So 7 times 2 gets us a 14x, and 7 times a negative 1 gets us a negative 7.
00:24 On this side, 11 times 3x is equal to 33x, and 11 times a negative 2 is a negative 20.
00:33 Everything else stays the same though, so i still have a plus 4 on the left and nothing else i have to have on the right.
00:42 From here, i try to normally combine things that are the same on both sides before i start moving sides.
00:50 So what i can do is i can combine this negative 7 and this positive 4.
00:55 So i'd end up there with a negative 3.
01:00 Still leaving the 14x on this side, the 33x minus 3.
01:05 22 on the right.
01:09 So i've cleaned up everything i can on the left side and everything i can on the right side, but i notice that both sides still have a variable.
01:17 I can't solve until the variable is on a single side.
01:21 So what i need to do is move one of them.
01:23 Now personal preference, i always try to keep my variable positive, so i always move the smaller one or smaller value.
01:31 In this case, 14 is a smaller value, so i'm going to move it over...
