Statistics: Using just the mean, mode, and median how can you determine the following about a data set: (a) There is a normal distribution of data, (b) The data is positively skewed, (c) the data is negatively skewed Statistics: Based upon the distribution of data, which measure of centrality and measure of spread/dispersion is best to use when (a) You have a normal distribution (b) You have a skewed distribution. You must include an explanation for your answers to get full marks. Here you will be using the box and whisker plot image found below this question. The goal here is to properly demonstrate that you can read and get values from a box and whisker diagram. List out the following values (clearly include a label for each value) (a) Min, (b) Max, (c) Quartile 1 value, (d) Quartile 3 value, (e) Median, (f) The range.

Provide an appropriate response. 6) Find the mean, median, mode and standard deviation of the following sample of statistic students' test scores: 58 61 54 58 51 59 58 52 53 56 Mean: Median: Mode: Standard deviation: 7) A small computing center has found that the number of jobs submitted per day to its computers has a distribution that is approximately bell shaped, with a mean of 75 jobs and a standard deviation of 8. Within what range do we expect most (approximately 95%) of the distribution to fall? 8) If nothing is known about the shape of a distribution, what percentage of the observations fall within 2 standard deviations of the mean?

For this discussion post, we are going to run a set of descriptive statistics to help describe our sample. For the following dataset, find the sample mean, median, mode, sample standard deviation, range, Q1, Q3, IQR: 30, 35, 27, 42, 50, 26, 23, 47, 23, 29, 41, 45, 21, 50, 47, 24, 26 Report your sample mean, median, mode, sample standard deviation, range, Q1, Q3, and IQR. Do not forget, we are looking at a sample set here, so we need to use the sample standard deviation. Compare the measures of center (mean, median, mode). How similar or different are they? Does the relationship between the mean and median tell us anything about the symmetry/skew of the dataset? Look at the measures of spread (standard deviation, range, IQR). How do these compare to one another? What do they tell us about the spread of our dataset?
