A typical electrocardiogram (ECG) recorded from electrodes placed on the wrist shows three waves: the P, QRS, and waves are present at regular intervals. The ECG records the activity of the heart. If the P wave is missing it means that the node is not functioning properly and the heart rate will be than normal. If there are two consecutive P waves without the QRS wave, it is indicative of a blockage of the node.
