You are doing an Orthostatic BP test on a patient for the first time by yourself. In the supine position, your BP readings are 130/78 mmHg and HR 62. You skip the sitting position and go directly to standing per the doctor's orders. Your patient's BP responses for normal and abnormal are listed below. (Pay attention to the normal supine numbers for the normal response) Normal response: Systolic likely increased to 134 mmHg, Diastolic increased to 80 mmHg, and HR increased to 70 BPM. Abnormal response (orthostatic hypotension): Systolic increased to 130 mmHg, diastolic decreased greater than 10 mmHg, HR decreased greater than 20 BPM.
