THIS IS RESEARCH STUDY G (you will use this information for multiple questions): Geoff is a graduate student studying recycling behaviors. He is interested in whether different types of recycling bins affect how accurately people sort their recyclables. For his study, he went to the local farmer’s market for 10 weeks. For 5 of the weeks, he used standard recycling bins, labeled with the name of the type of recyclable. For the other 5 weeks, he put an additional sign with pictures showing the different kinds of recyclables intended for the bin. Geoff had coders watch what people threw into each type of bin, coding whether each item was put into the correct bin. Refer to Research Study G to answer this question: In addition to coding whether each person deposits their waste into the correct recycling bin, Greg has his coders judge the age of the person throwing something away, judging them as either younger or older than 40. When he looks at his data, Greg sees that the labels on the recycling bin had no effect for visitors who were coded as younger than 40, but the signs without the pictures resulted in lower accuracy than the signs with the pictures for those coded as over 40. In these data, what would we consider age? A mediating variable A confound A causal variable A moderator variable
