So in this question we are being asked, which bodily response allows us to recognize specific pathogens in our body and improve upon our responses with subsequent exposure? so i'm going to break this down just a little bit into our main lines of defense here, which obviously we have our first second and our third line of defense.
00:24
So first, our first line of defense here, i'm just going to list kind of the first line of defense here.
00:32
The basics that go along with this.
00:34
So our first line of defense, this is going to be things such as our skin, our mucus membranes, and really that sort of thing.
00:42
So kind of external barriers to the body.
00:47
And if pathogens get past this outer layer of protection, they are going to be met with our second line of defense.
00:53
And our second line of defense is kind of non -specific type of fighting cells.
01:03
So what i mean by that is you're going to have your phagacetic cells.
01:08
For example, you're going to have things such as macrophages, which these are all nonspecific, so they're going to target any specific type of pathogen.
01:19
Nothing is specific.
01:21
So macrophages, you're going to have your neutrophils, cells like this.
01:29
Along with that, you're going to have things such as your antimicrobial protein, so just proteins that are going to kind of come in for the attack.
01:43
And at the top of this is really important.
01:45
You're going to have your inflammatory response.
01:48
So your inflammatory response is going to kind of kick off that protein cascade...
