Alright, so each of these are similar in the way each question is similar in the way that they're set up so once you do two you get so used to doing them that it becomes you know easier to go along but anyway let's start off with the first one 3x plus 1 over 3x plus 5 is equal to 5 and because this the left hand side is written as a fraction i'm going to also write this right hand side as a fraction so i'm just gonna write it as 5 over 1 and the reason why i'm doing that is because i'd like to do what's called cross -multiply so you multiply the diagonals and then equate them so we get 1 times 3x plus 1 is equal to 5 times 3x plus 5 then we go ahead and simplify 1 times 3x is 3x and 1 times 1 is 1 5 times 3x is 15x 5 times 5 is 25 and now i'm gonna group like terms so i'm trying to keep x positive.
01:13
So i'm gonna keep it on the right hand side because 15x is bigger than 3x so i'm gonna subtract 3x from both sides so we get 3x minus 3x 0 plus 1 is 1 15x minus 3x is 12x plus 25 and then i'm gonna subtract 25 from both sides we get 1 minus 25 is negative 24 is equal to 12x because 25 minus 25 is 0 and then now we divide both sides by 12 to get negative 2 is equal to x so it means that for question 1 the corresponding is question 2 4 x minus 3 over 4 x minus 2 is equal to 17 over 18 again, i'm gonna cross multiply to get 18 times 4 x minus 3 is equal to 17 times 4 x minus 2 all right.
02:41
So each of these are similar in the way each question is similar in the way that they're set up 18 times 4 is 72 so that gives us 72 x 3 times 18 is 54 that gives us negative 54 17 times 4 is equal to 68.
03:02
So we have 68 x and 17 17 times 2 is equal to 34.
03:12
So that gives us minus 34 and similarly, we're gonna try to group like terms so i'm gonna subtract 68 x from both sides and that leaves us with 72 minus 68 is 4 so we get 4 x minus 54 is equal to and 68 x minus 68 x is 0 minus 34 is minus 34, okay now i'm gonna add 54 to both sides all right.
03:58
So each of these are similar in the way each question is similar in the way that they're set up 4 x minus 54 plus 54 is 4 x negative 34 plus 54 gives you positive 20 now divide both sides by 4 to get x equal 5 so for number 2 the corresponding is number 3 5 x plus 6 plus 6 divided by 6 x minus 7 is equal to 16 over 5 again, i'm gonna cross multiply to get 16 times 6 x minus 7 is equal to 5 times 5 x plus 6 all right so each of these are similar in the way each question is similar in the way that they're set up 16 times 6 x is 96 x all right so each of these are similar in the way each question is similar in the way that they're set up minus 16 times 7 which is minus 112 5 times 5 x is 25 x minus oh plus sorry 5 times 6 which is 30 and then we're gonna group like terms so we get 96 x because i'm subtracting 25 x from both sides since i did it in the first two questions, i'm just gonna do it in one step.
05:45
So 96 x minus 25 x minus 112 is equal to 25 x minus 25 x plus 30 all right.
06:05
So each of these are similar in the way each question is similar in the way that they're set up we get 71 x minus 112 is equal to 30 and then i'm gonna add 112 to both sides so that will give me 71 x is equal to 142 is 112 plus 30 gives 142 now, we're gonna divide both sides by 71 which means that x is equal to 2 so for number 3 the corresponding letter is a all right so each of these are similar in the way each question is similar in the way that they're set up now on to number 4 we have 7 x minus 5 over 7 x minus 13 is equal to 2 and again, i'm gonna write 2 as a fraction so i'm gonna write 2 over 1 and that gives us 1 times again we're cross multiplying so that gives us 1 times 7 x minus 5 which is just 7 x minus 5 is equal to 2 times 7 x minus 13 now we're gonna simplify to get 7 x minus 5 is equal to 14 x minus 26 we're gonna group like terms...
