The latter half of the book of Genesis in the Bible details the life of Abraham and his descendants, eventually describing the establishment of the House of Israel through the sons of Jacob. Because it was important to the family of Abraham to maintain covenant relationships within their families, marriages were often between closely related individuals. For example, Abraham and Sarah’s son Isaac married Rebekah, his first cousin once removed (she was the granddaughter of Abraham’s brother Nahor). Of course, Jacob’s two wives, the sisters Leah and Rachel, were his first cousins, daughters of his mother’s brother Laban. The family tree is depicted in the accompanying pedigree. For this pedigree, what is the inbreeding coefficient of Z, which represents the children of Jacob with his two wives, Leah and Rachel? a. 0.0078125 b. 0.015625 c. 0.03125 d. 0.03515625 e. 0.0625 f. 0.0703125 g. 0.09375 h. 0.125
