outbreaks-of-viral-disease-are-a-continuing-threat-in-the-united-states-as-well-as-abroad-the-centers-for-disease-control-and-other-international-agencies-devote-considerable-resources-to-su-49036

Outbreaks of viral disease are a continuing threat in the United States as well as abroad. The Centers for Disease control and other international agencies devote considerable resources to surveillance and detection programs as well as advancement of communicable disease prevention and mitigation measures. Preventing outbreaks is the ultimate goal, but establishing protocols that ensure preparedness in the event of an outbreak is also important. For this discussion you have an opportunity to characterize key features of a virus with epidemic or even pandemic potential and chose one disease you feel would be best suited for significant research and pre-emptive efforts. Keep the following questions on hand as you view the video. What are the attributes of a particularly dangerous emerging infectious disease? What features of modern society influence dissemination of viral diseases of this nature? Using the information you learned from the readings and videos you have reviewed this week to support your answers, address these questions in your discussion post. If you were in charge of distributing one-hundred million dollars in research funds but could only chose one viral disease to provide for, which disease would you endow and why? How do you think the medical and scientific community should use your millions?

Airborne diseases spread when a person with a certain infection coughs, sneezes, or talks, spewing nasal and throat secretions into the air. Some viruses or bacteria take flight and hang in the air where you can inhale them when you breathe in or land on surfaces where you pick them up when you touch an infected surface and then touch your own eyes, nose, or mouth. Because these diseases travel in the air, they’re hard to control. These microscopic pathogens when airborne, although they are not yet at the atomic or molecular level, behave a bit similar to gas particles. Are there some concepts on gases that can help control the spread of airborne diseases in the community? Objectives: Apply the concepts of KMT for gases in the prevention of airborne diseases Spread awareness on the prevention of illness within the home Task: Within the comfort of your home, conduct and record a brief information dissemination talk with your family members discussing ways to prevent and/or control the spread of airborne diseases at home.

00:01 Hello students, in this question, we'll be discussing about determining the reasons of outbreak and how to approach about outbreaks and understanding different parameters and causes of outbreaks.
00:15 So, in the first question, we try to understand about the emerging infectious diseases.
00:20 So, the emerging infectious diseases, it's difficult to monitor them and there's no, not enough vaccination and there's high mortality.
00:41 So, basically, it's rapid and high of high infectivity.
00:46 So, it's difficult to control.
00:48 So, the factors that are key features of an infectious disease that needs to be monitored is the answer to this question.
00:58 So, these include the first one that is high violence, lack of efficient vaccination, there is high mortality and there is high transmissibility as well of the disease.
01:34 In the next question, we discuss about the modes of cause that gives rise to these outbreaks...
