Social psychology analyses the the dynamics of relationship between individuals and the people surrounding them and their impacts in terms of attitude and behaviour.
The 1990's began the "age of pluralism" where researchers in social psychology embraced advances in biological sciences (which includes genetics, and neurobiology) to examine novel questions with more perspective and enhance understanding of behaviour, emotion, cognition, and neurodevelopment. They learnt that ethnic, racial and cultural experiences influence ones biology and the converse are also true. Additionally, the influence of genetic factors on social interactions is increasingly recognized, challenging the traditional emphasis on environmental determinants. Tomasello, M. (2009) claims that the capacity for understanding that others have intentions of their own creation and taking after them for the intended purpose have their roots in symbol- based culture. Zeiders and Roosa, M. W. (2012) studied the physiological correlates of discrimination in adolescents by studying diurnal cortisol levels. However, they also found disparities among ethnic and racial minority groups namely Mexican and African immigrants. Other fields of collaboration include public health, politics and economics.
Social psychologists have changed from a rational, logical approach to behaviour to evaluating concepts of personality like the self and intergroup relations and' big five' clusters. They spotlighted "social cognition".The COVID pandemic brought out the influence social distance and security measures on the perception of empathy toward others. Around this time telepsychology, social media and technological devices have taken up important roles.
Research has also encompassed Neuroimaging and social networking as two important dimensions.Researchers now rely onon analyses that focus on observed correlations between outcome measures and measures of presumed mediators. give your review on this post
