00:01 This problem says solve for the y value in the equation below and we are to round our answer to the nearest hundredth but not rounding any intermediate computations.
00:09 So when we look at this equation, it's an exponential equation and if we can write our bases to be alike then we don't have to deal with any logarithms or anything of that nature.
00:19 But we can't write 6 and 8 to have a common base.
00:22 So when that can't happen we do have to use logarithms and you can take log or natural log of both sides.
00:28 I'm going to go with natural log of both sides and the reason we are taking natural log or any log of both sides when our bases can't be written alike is because that allows us to use log properties.
