Spectral Analysis: Please help me make sure everything is correct and answering the following question.
1) Most of your analysis should be done directly on the spectrum. Always draw the proposed structure on every spectrum. For IR, label all significant peaks. For NMR, label all peaks on the molecular structure and above each set of peaks to indicate which proton gave rise to which peaks. Include your integration analysis on the spectrum. In the discussion section of your report, you should include additional spectral information (see below). For NMR, include a brief discussion of the chemical shifts (why are they upfield or downfield?) and splitting (what coupling gives rise to the splitting seen in the spectrum?).
