The association between activities of daily living and the prevalence of low back pain was studied cross-sectionally in a sample of middle-aged and older adult residents in a suburban area. One of the activities of interest was gardening. Current prevalent low back pain was defined based on the reporting of at least one episode of low back pain during the last month. The following table shows the distribution of individuals according to the prevalence of low back pain ("outcome") and whether they frequently engaged in gardening activities ("exposure").
