Studies have shown that stress and consumption of a poor diet can impact learning and memory. I want to assess whether or not the consumption of a high-fat diet and chronic stress have significant impacts on learning and memory (as measured through the Morris Water Maze). I have 4 groups in my study: 1) Mice receiving a high-fat diet and being chronically stressed, 2) Mice receiving a high-fat diet and receiving no stress, 3) Mice receiving a control diet and being chronically stressed, and 4) Mice receiving a control diet and receiving no stress. I measure the amount of time it takes for mice to find a hidden platform (lower numbers are better). At an alpha of 0.05 , test if there are significant main effects of diet and stress, if there are any interactions, and interpret any interactions appropriately.

a. How many null hypotheses do we have? b. How many alternative hypotheses do we have?
c. What is our critical F value?
d. Attach the ANOVA Summary Table you get from Jamovi; pleaselabel your variables
e. What do we conclude with diet? a. We reject the null hypothesis. There is sufficient evidence to conclude that type of diet has a significant effect on time(s) to find the platform. b. We fail to reject the null hypothesis. There is insufficient evidence to conclude that type of diet has an effect on time(s) to find the platform.
f. What do we conclude with stress? a. We reject the null hypothesis. There is sufficient evidence to conclude that stress has a significant effect on time(s) to find the platform. b. We fail to reject the null hypothesis. There is insufficient evidence to conclude that stress has an effect on time(s) to find the platform.
g. What do we conclude for the interaction with diet*stress? a. We reject the null hypothesis. There is sufficient evidence to conclude that there is an interaction between diet and stress on time(s) to find the platform. b. We fail to reject the null hypothesis. There is insufficient evidence to conclude that there is an interaction between diet and stress on time(s) to find the platform.
h. Produce a marginal means plot of this data and attach it here, with diet and stress in the Term 1 box under Estimated Marginal Means, Please place the diet variable on the x axis and have the stress variable be the colors of the lines.
