The owner has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
00:05
She's seeing a therapist who helps her learn to experience her emotions mindfully and cope with stress.
00:10
What kind of therapy is that? we have four options.
00:13
Let's go through each of these and what would be covered.
00:16
First, humanistic therapy.
00:18
Humanistic therapy is very person -centered.
00:24
The idea here is that there is a gap between who you are now and your ideal self.
00:29
And they want to branch that gap, or bridge that gap, rather.
00:34
It's very empathetic, and it involves positive regard.
00:43
So the humanists believe that human beings are good, just inherently good, and if they're not being good, it's because something has gone wrong that is keeping them from self -discovery.
00:53
Next, we have rational emotive behavior therapy, r -e -b -t.
00:57
So this is the idea that people have these irrational beliefs that are negatively, impacting their lives and you want to target those beliefs and change them.
01:08
So you take them away, you replace them with more helpful beliefs.
01:15
And in doing so, reduce emotional stress and reduce any negative behaviours that are coming from these beliefs.
01:22
Cognitive therapy is kind of similar.
01:25
It's about changing thoughts...
