The necessary condition for the equilibrium of a body under the action of concurrent forces is that the vector sum of all the forces acting on the body must be zero.
For a body to be in equilibrium under the combined action of several forces, all of the forces must be composed of pairs of equal and opposite forces. The sum of the components of all the forces in any direction must equal zero. All the forces must be applied at the same point. Any two of these forces must be balanced by a third force.
