The following diagram shows a circuit with a potentiometer.
R
$$V_o$$
a) The potentiometer wiper creates a voltage divider which splits the resistor into two components: $$\alpha R$$ and $$(1-\alpha)R$$, where $$0 \le \alpha \le 1$$. Draw the equivalent circuit and find $$\frac{V_o}{V_i}$$
b) Assume that the potentiometer goes from 0% to 100% in one turn. If R = 1k$$\Omega$$ and the potentiometer rotates $$\frac{1}{4}$$ of a turn, what is Vo? Assume a 6V input.
c) Create the same circuit in TinkerCAD, and show the outputs as if you were creating this circuit in lab.
d) Assume that we've rigged the potentiometer to measure a displacement and that the sensitivity was derived to be 3.5mm/V. Based on your measurement in part B, what is the measured displacement?
e) What is the maximum measurable displacement?
