The magnetic force on a moving charged particle is perpendicular to the velocity of the particle. In a region of uniform magnetic field, the charged particle therefore undergoes circular motion, with the magnetic force providing the centripetal force. Show that the momentum of a particle of charge q in a region of uniform magnetic field B can be determined by measuring the radius R of the circular orbit.

What direction and of what magnitude would a uniform electric field need to be applied so that the charged particle would move in a straight line?
