If clients treat open-ended questions as closed-ended questions by giving one-word responses, you may need to refer them to another practitioner who can understand them better. Alternatively, you may need to teach them to be a better client. You may also need to encourage them by saying, "Tell me more." Additionally, you may need to ask more closed-ended questions.
