The relationship between exercise and positive mood is of great interest to many researchers concerned about physical and mental health outcomes (Chan et al., 2019; Smith & Merwin, 2021). As an example of research in this area, suppose we hypothesize that anaerobic exercise enhances mood. We identify a sample of patrons at a local gym, then randomly assign the patrons to complete an anaerobic exercise that is either low intensity or moderate intensity, or to a control condition in which they do not exercise (they instead watch a mundane exercise video). We then record their change in positive affect (mood) on a bipolar scale from -3 (much worse mood) to +3 (much improved mood) with 0 being no change in mood. Scores for each group are given in the table below. We will conduct an analysis of variance to analyze these data at a .05 level of significance. Write the hypothesis and complete the F table.
