In the United States, what is the historical relationship between women’s suffrage and race? Group of answer choices All suffragists started out as abolitionists and actively worked to support Black citizens’ voting rights. Suffragists were wealthy white women who never worked with Black women. Many suffragists were abolitionists, but some were also racists who excluded Black women from their advocacy and from the overall movement. Because the suffrage movement was separate from the civil rights movement of the 1960s, there was no relationship between race and women’s right to vote.
