As water flows through the pipes, it rises within the piezometers at A and B to the heights hA = 1.7 ft and hB = 2.2 ft. Assume the fluid is an ideal fluid, that is, incompressible and frictionless. Determine the volumetric flow (Q).
Adi S.
Water flows along a horizontal pipe, through a contraction and out into the atmosphere soon after. The situation is sketched in fig. X.29. The volume flow rate is $Q$. Estimate the height $h$ for which water can be sucked into the main flow from a lower reservoir open to the atmospherc.
A container filled with water (ρ_sw = 1000 kg/m^3) is open to the atmosphere at the top end with cross-sectional area A1 = 3.20 m^2, and narrows at the bottom end (cross-sectional area A2 = 1.35 m^2). The fluid height from bottom to top is h = 0.535 m and initially the narrow end at the bottom is plugged (closed to the atmosphere) such that no water escapes, i.e., no fluid motion.
