Humanity has been ravaged by serious diseases for a very long time. Discuss the challenges of a selected pandemic in terms of public health using an example of any one of these previous pandemics. Stress the geographic dimensions of the pandemic with maps and images and state whether it is possible to draw any conclusions from this previous experience that could help us lend understanding to our current Covid-19 pandemic. You may also elect to discuss any one of our realms from a Covid-19 standpoint, looking at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of their approach to the pandemic, with emphasis on the geographic aspects. This is a major assignment worth 100 points! 1) H1N1 (1918), Spanish Flu 2) Asian Flu H2N2 (1957-58), 3) H3N2 (1968), Hong Kong Flu 4) HIV/AIDS, 5) Ebola, 6) Hamin Mangha in northeastern China 7) Plague of Athens 8) Antonine Plague during the Roman Empire 9) Plague of Cyprian

Read the following scenario to answer the following question. Avian influenza is a viral infection with few damaging effects that naturally occurs in wild birds. However, avian influenza is highly contagious and can quickly kill domesticated birds. Some human influenza viruses are similar to the avian influenza. People infected with avian influenza develop typical flu symptoms (fever, cough, muscle aches). However, symptoms may become more severe and life-threatening. If avian influenza evolves into a form that is easily transmissible from person to person, a global pandemic of widespread human death might occur. Which cells would be active during an immune response to a viral infection
