Suppose a person with only one type of cone is shown two monochromatic lights of different wavelengths but with the same physical intensity. Does the person, who is truly colorblind, necessarily see the two lights as identical? Why or why not? Color constancy is a sort of perceptual error, but it typically works to our advantage. Think of a situation in which we would be better off not having color constancy and explain why. Do you think a brain injury would be more likely to result in color vision deficiency resembling monochromacy or dichromacy? Explain your answer.
