Throughout the course, we have highlighted the terms anode and cathode. There are differences between the definitions depending upon discipline. As chemists, we identify the electrodes based upon the chemistry that is happening at that electrode. Why is the anode named the anode, and the cathode named the cathode? In the selective electroplating process, what is the electrode of interest? What type of reaction is happening at this electrode? Which lead from the DC power supply is connected to this electrode? Why?
